In August, Hans, Chamber President, and Bruce Swingle, County Manager, met with the representative of a national organic farming group interested in opening an indoor hemp growing & processing plant in Sierra County. The chamber had helped him with another project here almost 7 years ago, and he said that he chose to bring his latest project here because of the good memories of the town. A few weeks after the first meeting, he returned with four of his associates to look at suitable property and we again had a meeting to discuss the project in more detail, and inform the visitors of incentives available. Attending this second meeting were: Bruce Swingle (County Manager), Christine Logan (NM state economic development), Kathy Elverum (Workforce NM), George Szigeti (City of T or C), and Hans Townsend (Chamber President). The 50,000 square foot hydroponic grow space and processing plant looks to employ around 50 people when complete.

Posts on this blog will be focused on presenting the most up to date information on current, and foreseeable relationships between the Sierra County communities, Spaceport, and any other business that may have interest in bringing their trade and enterprise to this area. The ambassador program is intended to make the most out of any serious opportunities that present themselves to the community, which is why we ask that anyone coming across such an opportunity, should let us know by commenting on this post, or by sending an email to any of the contact addresses on the footer of this page.
